Abstract
In this paper, we consider the general linear model â³={y,Xβ,Σ}, without any rank assumptions to the model matrix X and covariance matrix Σ, and its two restricted models â³r1={y,Xβ|A1β=r1,Σ} and â³r12={y,Xβ|Aβ=r,Σ}, where r=(r1â²,r2â²)â² and A=(A1â²,A2â²)â². We give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the BLUEs to equal under â³ and â³r1, as well as under â³r1 and â³r12. We also derive that the BLUEs under â³r1 are superior to the BLUEs under â³, and that the BLUEs under â³r12 are superior to the BLUEs under â³r1 in the sense of the covariance matrix.
