Abstract
•Double Mach reflection test case investigated by different numerical settings.•Numerical disturbance identified as superposition of two disturbances.•Disturbance from initial condition cannot be avoided.•Disturbance from boundary condition circumvented by enlarging the computational domain.
This short communication discusses the initial and boundary conditions as well as the size of the computational domain for the double Mach reflection problem when set up as a test for the resolution of an Euler scheme for gas dynamics.
