Abstract
Novel carbon replica materials were obtained from a silica gel by a templating method. The obtained carbon material possessed a high surface area and microporosity and contained active surface carboxyl groups. Functionalization of the carbon surface by 2-(2′-aminoethyl)pyridine resulted in a hybrid organic/inorganic material capable of forming complexes with metal ions. Pd-complexes supported on a surface of the functionalized carbon displayed a high activity for Suzuki coupling reactions.
