Abstract
History of France suspects some royal poisoners like Charles the Bad one, Louis Xl, Catherine de Médicis… After the Marchioness of Brinvilliers, the famous affairs of the poisons from 1679 to 1682, revealed networks of poisoners on which many personalities were dependent like the Marchioness of Montespan. When this affair came to an end, Louis XIV made the legislation move. Progress of the analysis waits the 19th century (1836: J. Marsh's apparatus) but poisoners do not disappear; they contribute to the toxicological advances. It is the case of the trials Lafarge and Besnard. The modern approaches make expertises less hazardous. Will they be able to solve the historic enigmas?
