Abstract

An influence of quenching in the course of crystallization process of high-silica mordenite zeolite (MOR) on the crystallization rate and crystal size was investigated in detail. It was found that the crystallization rate is considerably enhanced by the quenching, and that the crystal size decreases with the quenching time. The high-silica MOR with a crystal size of 500–700 nm was easily obtained by a combination of the quenching and the addition of seed crystals. There are no differences in the thermal stability and dealumination behavior between MORs synthesized with and without quenching during crystallization.
