Abstract
⺠A design for a stepwise thermochemical process that converts wheat straw into pyrolysis vapors and a syngas is presented. ⺠The syngas is converted into CH4 via methanation, or used as a fuel for molten-carbonate fuel cells to generate electricity. ⺠In our design, excess pyrolysis vapor can supplement natural gas for a steam production at Washington State University. ⺠An integrated heat balance of our design yields excess waste heat that can be sent to greenhouses.
