Abstract
A series of sterically expanded arenes have been prepared. Metallation with molybdenum was achieved and provides access to (η6-arene)Mo(CO)3 complexes, demonstrating the first use of these ligands as supports for transition metals. Significant steric modulation is accomplished through careful arene choice, as demonstrated by the ligand effect upon benzene exchange.65
