Abstract
DFT calculations confirm that the large deformations of the Ni-(O2)-Gd central core in a dinuclear Ni-Gd complex made with a Schiff base ligand giving a six-coordinate Ni ion are responsible for the decrease of the Ni-Gd magnetic interaction.
