Abstract
Binuclear 3,5-dinitrobenzoates of lanthanides form stable charge transfer adducts with N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA), [Ln2(O2CC6H3(NO2)2)6(DMSO)4]·3(Me2N)C6H5 (Ln = Eu (1), Gd (2), Tb (3), Dy (4), Y (5)), and toluene, [Ln2(O2CC6H3(NO2)2)6(DMSO)4]·(2 + n)MePhâ
(1 â n)DMSO (Ln = Eu (6), Gd (7), Tb (8), Dy (9), Y (10); 0 ⩽ n ⩽ 1). In the case of the DMA compounds, the charge transfer is strong enough to add a paramagnetic contribution to the compounds and to determine their 3D-supramolecular structures. Compounds of series 1-5 were studied by several physico-chemical methods in comparison with compounds of series 6-10.
