Abstract
Different coordination modes of the o-phenylenedioxydiacetato ligand (PDOA) lead to a ribbon-like arrangement of {Ce3} triangles in [Ce(PDOA)(NO3)(H2O)2]n (1) and to zig-zag chains in {[Ce(PDOA)(NO3)(H2O)3]·H2O} (2); in both structures syn-anti carboxylate bridges link the Ce(III) atoms. A magnetic study using data at temperatures above 50 K reveals Curie-Weiss behavior for 1 with θ = â35.5 K.
