Abstract
Photoluminescent films of PMMA [poly(methyl methacrylate)] doped with [EuL2(H2O)2(NO3)3] complex were prepared, where L is 2,6-bis[2-formylphenoxymethyl]pyridine (C21H17NO4). The Eu(III) complex was synthesized by classic chemosynthesis and by mechanochemical process. The new material shows the ability of the Eu(III) complex to interact with the polymeric matrix, without loss of characteristic features of both components. The Eu(III) luminescence is enhanced once the complex is embedded into the polymeric matrix.
