Synthesis of bis(7-octenyl)zinc via heterogeneous Ni catalysts

Hydrozincation of olefins using heterogeneous Ni catalysts has been performed to synthesize olefin functionalized bis(alkyl)zincs that are non-volatile. The heterogeneous catalysis methodology is advantaged from raw material, process, and purification standpoints as compared to traditional Grignard, photochemical, or borane-mediated hydrozincation routes to these materials.58
