Single, double, and triple silver centers bound by a tetradentate N,P ligand

Silver complexes are synthesized with 2-(bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)) picolylamine (BPMP-2) and 5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′-dipyridyl (bpy). The reaction of AgX (X = BF4, tfa, OTf) with BPMP-2 results in the formation of [Ag(BPMP-2)2][X] and [Ag(BPMP-2)]2[BF4]2, while mixed ligand reactions result in [Ag3(BPMP-2)(bpy)3][BF4]3 and [Ag4(BPMP-2)2(bpy)2][tfa]4.
