Abstract
A new copper(II) complex was prepared. The geometric structure around the copper(II) ion is square pyramidal. The complex is solvatochromic, thermochromic, halochromic and ionochromic. The color of the complex changes reversibly over the pH range 2.0-11.0. Thermochromism is due to elimination of the coordinated water molecule in the axial position.
