Abstract
The complex chemistry of dithio-diglycolamide ligands with uranyl nitrate shows that the ligands act in a bidentate chelating bonding mode through the carbamoyl oxygen atoms to the uranyl group. Theoretical studies reveal that the chelating mode of bonding is stronger than bridging or monodentate modes in these ligands compared to the corresponding CH2 analogue. These ligands show appreciable extraction for U(VI) and Pu(IV) ions from HNO3.
