Abstract
Reaction of an extended reach ligand with copper(II) chloride and various silver(I) salts consistently generates discrete mononuclear complexes that involve the ligand adopting a common conformation in which it folds into a U-shape and generates large 20-membered chelate rings in which the ligand acts in a trans-spanning mode.
