Abstract
In understanding the influence of rare earth ions on crystallization, metal ions distribution, crack propagation and corrosion resistance of tailing-derived glass-ceramics, CeO2 containing glass-ceramics were prepared by melting method. Decrease of degree of crystallization of glass-ceramics with the increase of CeO2 content was maintained by the intensified stabilization of glass structure owing to the high electric field characteristics of Ce4Â +. A significant change in metal ions distribution can be observed in glass-ceramics with the increase of CeO2 content, which can result in the formation of aggregates. The aggregation induced by rare earth doping had a certain inhibiting effect on the propagation of cracks. In addition, the acid-resistance of glass-ceramics had been improved. The densification of the glass phase induced by the high field of Ce4Â + was beneficial to the performance improvement.
