Abstract
The mixing entropy difference between liquid and crystal of Fe base amorphous alloys is calculated based on the assumption that the mixing entropy of crystals is nonzero. The obtained results are in good agreement with the experimental observations that the glass forming ability of Fe base alloys cannot be further improved by increasing the number of components under the technology of today. The results will contribute in designing the composition of new Fe-based BMGs without metalloid elements.
