Abstract
⺠A mechanics solution is presented for circular and square thin tiles (islands). ⺠Finite-sized features are very different from those with semi-infinite dimension. ⺠The solution enables failure regime maps which indicate failure modes. ⺠Design maps are provided to guide materials selection and tile sizing.
