Abstract

Nickel-based alloy closed-pore hollow spheres were fabricated using three kinds of powders with different particle sizes by powder metallurgy process. The diameter of the sphere is about 3∼3.5 mm and the wall thickness is 0.3∼0.4 mm. The optimum slurry ratio is the liquid-solid ratio of 1/2. Some performances of metal hollow sphere (MHS) materials made of the powders with different particle sizes were discussed. The results show that the porosity decreases, density increases with the gradual decrease of particle size; in the meantime the compression strength of MHS increases from 16 to 18 MPa and then to 28 MPa, and actual relative compression strength value is only 50% of the theory value.
