Abstract
Based on the analogy with the intrinsic deformation of sâ¤1/2 nuclei we discuss the possibility and consequences of the intrinsic quadrupole deformation of the proton. It is found, that the probability of double-parton interactions can be affected by the intrinsic proton deformation in ultra-relativistic pp interactions. A speculation is presented on the influence of the proton deformation on W-boson events associated with two high-pt jets in p+p¯ collisions.
