Abstract
The photoionization cross sections of the excited levels (3s3p P0,1,2o3) of atomic Mg have been studied theoretically using both the nonrelativistic and fully relativistic R-matrix method. For the threshold cross sections, as previous nonrelativistic studies, present calculations show significant differences (a factor of 3) from former experimental values. Large discrepancies with experiment calls for additional measurements of the photoionization cross sections from the excited states of Mg.
