Abstract
⺠A new class of interaction potentials for swarming models is proposed. ⺠Potentials fulfill properties desirable from biological modeling. ⺠Flock and mill solutions are expressed in terms of basic functions in 2D and 3D. ⺠Constrained optimization methods are successfully used to compute the patterns. ⺠Highly convincing agreement between continuous results and particle simulations.
