Abstract
► Down-regulation of MsrA induces HO-1 expression with increased p21 levels. ► MsrA deficiency activates Nrf2 by increasing its nuclear accumulation. ► MsrA overexpression in MsrA-depleted cells suppresses Nrf2 activation. ► Collectively, MsrA counteracts HO-1 induction by inhibiting Nrf2 activation.
