Abstract
► We studied N-homocysteinylation of ovine prion in vitro. ► Modification results in introduction of homocysteine to at least K197 and K207. ► Homocysteinylation leads to formation of aggregates about 1 μm. ► Homocysteinylation provokes an increase of content in beta-sheet content. ► Changes in physico-chemical properties indicate amyloid-like transformation.
