Abstract
⺠l-Serine dehydratase contains a structural domain previously found in only one other protein. ⺠The reaction mechanism is Uni-Bi ordered and is essentially irreversible. ⺠l-Threonine is a poor substrate and l-cysteine and d-serine are good competitive inhibitors. ⺠The three cysteinyl residues that participate in the iron-sulfur center are identified.
