Abstract
⺠Plasmepsin II (PMII) is stable at neutral pH. ⺠Native PMII exists as a kinetically trapped state. ⺠Refolded PMII exists as a thermodynamically stable state. ⺠The prosegment is hypothesized to catalyze PMII folding.
