Abstract
⺠Wild-type sterol C24-methyltransferase for the first time from any source - Candida albicans - has been purified and characterized. ⺠Turnover number of CaSMT established to be 0.01sâ1. ⺠Sterol biosynthesis inhibitors that target sterol C24-methyltransferase have been evaluated in vitro and in vivo. ⺠Ergosterol but not cholesterol or sitosterol shown to be an allosteric modulator of sterol C24-methyltransferase activity.
