Abstract
The osmotic stimulus caused by 20Â mM glucose triggers histamine release from mast cells through cholinergic neurotransmission. The activation of histamine H1 receptors in intestine epithelial cells increases the absorption of HCO3â and/or decreases the absorption of Na+.267
