Abstract
⺠NPC1L1 mediates cholesterol absorption in small intestine and liver. ⺠NPC1L1 recycles between PM and ERC in response to cholesterol levels. ⺠The N-terminal domain of NPC1L1 binds cholesterol not phytosterols. ⺠NPC1L1 and flotillins form cholesterol enriched membrane microdomains. ⺠Cholesterol is taken up by the endocytosis of these membrane microdomains.
