Abstract
⺠LCAT is a major modulator of HDL metabolism. ⺠Complete LCAT deficiency causes profound low HDL and modest hypertriglyceridemia. ⺠The role of LCAT in atherosclerosis remains controversial despite the dyslipidemia. ⺠Recent animal model studies revealed novel protective metabolic phenotypes. ⺠LCAT null mice are more insulin sensitive and resists diet induced obesity.
