Abstract
⺠Enhanced apoptosis, regulated by Fas/FasL system, is typical for chronic kidney disease (CKD). ⺠We evaluated serum concentrations of soluble Fas and FasL in children with CKD. ⺠We analyzed correlations between sFas/sFasL and their regulators - metalloproteinases. ⺠We searched for sFas/sFasL links with kidney function and inflammatory/endothelial markers. ⺠sFas/sFasL ratio is a useful index of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction in CKD children.
