Abstract
⺠HDL antiatherogenic effects would depend on its concentration and its functionality. ⺠Cardiovascular risk is increased after menopause, however, HDL does not decrease. ⺠HDL from postmenopausal women was a poor substrate for hepatic lipase. ⺠Reduced catabolism of HDL would impair cholesterol reverse transport efficiency.
