Abstract
⺠Atherosclerosis involves an inflammatory process in the arterial intima. ⺠Immune responses against plaque antigens modulate plaque inflammation. ⺠Regulatory T cells inhibit autoreactive T effector cells and inflammation. ⺠Th1 cells are pro-inflammatory and promote plaque progression. ⺠Novel therapies aim to mimic or selectively activate athero-protective immune responses.
