Abstract
âºWe analyzed association of three MMP-1 promoter polymorphisms with the carotid plaque. âº-1607 2G allele is the independent significant risk factor for CP presence. âºT-340 -A-519 -2G-1607 was significantly more frequent in CA compared to controls. âº1G-1607-A-519-T-340, 1G-1607-G-519-T-340 significantly decreased risk for CA. âºWe highlighted the importance and necessity of haplotype analysis.
