Abstract
- α-Synuclein was expressed in parental and ÎHsp104 yeast cells.
- Absence of Hsp104 led to lower oxidative stress and lower damage to proteins.
- This translated to lower cytotoxicity and higher cell viability.
- Absence of Hsp104 had no effect on viability of untransformed yeast cells.
- The outcome was an effect of Hsp104 on aggregation-induced toxicity of α-synuclein.
