Abstract
Following BrdU injections, an intense cellular proliferation was detected in the walls of the lateral ventricles of male and female canaries. Proliferation was more active in the ventral than in the dorsal ventricle, more active in females than in males at rostral levels and testosterone increased proliferation in birds of both sexes, but only in the mid- to caudal-parts of the ventricular zone.
