Abstract
▸ Active vitamin D compounds have been used as therapeutic agents for osteoporosis. ▸ However, active vitamin D compounds stimulate osteoclastogenesis in vitro. ▸ We examined how Eldecalcitol (a new vitamin D analog) inhibits bone resorption in vivo. ▸ We found that Eldecalcitol suppressed RANKL expression in bone. ▸ Characteristics of Eldecalcitol is also described.
