Abstract
- Sulfide has been proposed to participate in the reduction of nitrite to NO.
- The chemistry of the nitrite-sulfide/sulfane sulfur interaction is complex.
- Nitrite reacts with sulfane sulfur in polar aprotic solvents.
- Reaction products include SSNOâ, NO, HNO, N2O, polysulfides, and S8.
- These products may contribute to the biology and pharmacology of either species.
