Abstract
- Secapin was described in bee venom 38 years ago, and despite of this nothing is known about its action.
- A novel variant form of the peptide Secapin was isolated from honeybee venom.
- The novel peptide was named Secapin-2.
- Secapin-2 induced hyperalgesia and edematogenic response in rat paws.
- The actions of Secapin-2 occurred involved the activation of lipoxygenase pathway.
