Peptide diversity in the venom of the social wasp Polybia paulista (Hymenoptera): A comparison of the intra- and inter-colony compositions

- A LC-ESI-MS system was used to profile the peptide from P. paulista venom.
- Surprisingly high level of intra- and inter-colonial variability was observed.
- From 78 to 108 different peptides were observed in the mass range from 400 to 3000 Da.
- Only 36 and 44 common peptides were observed in inter- and intra-colony comparison.
