Abstract
⺠Diabetes induced hyperglycemia and reduced Na+K+ ATPase in rat sciatic nerve. ⺠MDA was elevated whereas BAP, GSH and SOD were decreased. ⺠BKB1 antagonist R-954 restored neuronal activity and reduced oxidative stress. ⺠BKB1-R is expressed in sciatic nerve as evidenced by inhibitory effects of R-954. ⺠The beneficial role of R-954 for diabetic neuropathy is suggested.
