Abstract
► Diabetes induced hyperglycemia and reduced Na+K+ ATPase in rat sciatic nerve. ► MDA was elevated whereas BAP, GSH and SOD were decreased. ► BKB1 antagonist R-954 restored neuronal activity and reduced oxidative stress. ► BKB1-R is expressed in sciatic nerve as evidenced by inhibitory effects of R-954. ► The beneficial role of R-954 for diabetic neuropathy is suggested.
