Abstract
The purpose of study is to determine the minimum peptide sequence in prothymosin alpha that provides neuroprotection against ischemic stress. The major finding is that 9-amino acid peptide sequence P9 (a.a. 52-60) in ProTα rescues ischemia-induced cellular and functional damages in vitro and in vivo. Detailed about P9-induced neuroprotection may confer a therapeutic benefit for the treatment of ischemic damages.
