Abstract
Travellers can protect themselves from malaria with the aid of chemoprophylaxis which suppresses the blood stage of the malaria infection. If the disease is declared, it can be treated by antimalarial medicines. The pharmacist must have expert knowledge of these treatments in order to dispense them in the best possible conditions.
