Abstract
Potentially inappropriate prescriptions are associated with adverse drug events, increased morbi-mortality and health-care costs, and poorer quality of life. Due to polymorbidity and polypharmacy, it is common among the elderly. Explicit indicators to detect inappropriate prescriptions were developed in geriatrics. The STOPP/START set of criteria is a substantial and validated help for the practitioners in the process of reviewing and optimizing prescription.
