Abstract
Congestive heart failure generally represents combined right- and left-sided heart failure, which provokes pulmonary congestion and peripheral oedema. The heart is subject to significant changes: fibrosis affects the electrical and mechanical functioning of the organ and the ventricular function gradually deteriorates eventually leading to death. The different available treatments help to slow down the progress of this disease, thereby extending patients' survival.
