Abstract
Human reproduction is dependent on complex processes which have appeared and been selected as humans have evolved. The synergy of these processes is made possible by a sophisticated hormonal communication system. The imbalance of one part of the mechanism can lead to infertility, female or male. It is necessary to be aware of the physiology of reproduction to be able to understand more clearly the issues surrounding infertility, as well as the treatments used in medically assisted reproduction.
