Abstract
- Interaction of two main cytokines (IL-6 and IL-10) after major trauma comes from the mRNA expression of IL-6 and IL-10 gene.
- Severe injury with tendency to endure multiple organ dysfunction syndrome after trauma is ISS>40.
- Surviving patients had higher IL-6/IL-10 ratio compared with the same severe trauma patients who did not survived.
- Immune response greater than this lead to immune system failure and the end of spectrum is multi-organ failure and death.
- There is correlation between IL-10 gene polymorphism (592C/A) and MODS after polytrauma.
