Abstract
The Labral Bridge technique is a knotless arthroscopic technique that utilizes a 1.5 mm LabralTape (Arthrex Inc.) to secure the torn labrum to the glenoid between each suture anchor in a running mattress type fashion, thus creating some kind of seal and potentially providing a more even pressure distribution. The technique aims to minimize strangling of the labral tissue and subsequently avoiding potential synovial leakage between the anchors to encourage biologic healing of the labrum to the glenoid. By avoiding constricting horizontal sutures, capsulolabral blood supply should be less compromised, because the supplying vessels in that area are running vertical to the rim of the glenoid. The technique further mimics the stitch configuration of a traditional open Bankart repair and limits potential irritation of the articular cartilage with suture material or knots.
