Abstract
Myxomatous tumours can arise from different cardiac structures. They have a particular predilection for the left atrium, and are an uncommon finding in ventricles. The case is presented of an asymptomatic 67-year old woman who was found to have a mass in the right ventricle obstructing the right ventricular outflow tract during systole. The patient underwent a successful surgical excision of the mass. The histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of myxoma. Some aspects related to the diagnosis and management of this condition are discussed in this article.
